Tequila Sunset Eats

Well, the sun came out for a while, so I went to hear J. Michael Laferty at Tequila Sunset. I usually just have a club soda, juice, or tea, but today I sprung for the Ahi Tuna Salad with teriyaki dressing. Yes, there are actually some greens under all that fish. The canned pineapple was a little disappointing, but other than that, it was pretty wonderful. I would have loved to have had fresh pineapple, but at least it had fresh avocado and all those greens. And the best Arnold Palmer I've ever had. (It always depends on the server. They are different every time.)

And, of course, Mikey was in good voice (more like great voice), like always.

Dressing Up the Ukes

Oh, oh, oh! I was so happy to find this ukulele for sale in Mission, TX. Palm trees! A ukulele with palm trees! I just love it so. And my new embroidered ukulele strap dresses it up nicely.

Some women like diamonds and pearls.

ME?

I get excited about a new ukulele strap.

I never thought I would be one of those people who would buy up ukuleles like they were candy, but it's started to feel like it could become an obsession.

It could be worse.

Right?????

Play on.

A View from Above

Wow! When I went to the island to check out a sewing/mending job, I had no idea that I would get an impressive bird's eye view of the island!

And maybe a brief bout of vertigo? LOL

I've always wondered what the Gulf looks like from one of these high-story condos, and now I know. At least, I know how it looks on a cold, damp, windy day.

I also made some new friends and some money for those island musicians' tip jars. It makes me happy to know that when visitors look out the patio doors at that lovely beach, those newly-hemmed drapes will be hanging alongside. All in a day's work. Or maybe a couple days.

Partly Cloudy Skies?

We haven't seen the sun for a while, so walking out to see the striking change in the beautiful sky was a real joy! That warm front just pushed its way through, causing a visible division between the clouds and clear, blue sky.

I have seen "partly cloudy" skies many times before, but never with such a line of demarcation! The water was actually a deep blue on one side of the line and a gray color on the opposite side. The change in temperature was also apparent, while walking along.

It was a pleasure to turn around and say goodbye to that thick cloud cover!

HELLO, SUN!  Good to have you back again!

A Morning Walk Closer to Home

This morning I decided to walk over to Bejarano-McFarland Park in Port Isabel. It's about a half mile from where I live, so it makes a nice little walk. I knew that the sunrise today was not going to be spectacular because of the thick cloud cover all along the island, but it's always nice to see the bay. I frequently see wildlife here, and probably would have seen some today had I waited a little longer, but the mosquitoes were pretty active so I didn't stay.

The bay looked very classy and it was hard to tell where the water stopped and the sky began. If not for that little strip of undeveloped beach (my favorite place) that you can see on the right it would have been nearly impossible. I could hear a lot of insect noises and fish jumping. This is a really nice spot for meditation and reflection.

After a short visit I headed back, just as the morning bustle was beginning. As school buses head out and people are rushing off to start their busy day, I make my way back home. Will I make it over to the island today? That remains to be seen. I have a lot to do today.

Beach Day

When the hourly weather forecast shows sun icons all day long, I know it's time to head for the beach. Specifically, the north end of the beach, where people are few and far between. Maybe a little car camping is in order, if the overnight tides are right.

After enjoying the clear water for a while and getting my daily quota of sunshine (maybe a little too much?) I can roll the windows down and go right on enjoying the clean salt air and beautiful view.

After a beautiful day, I went on home. One day soon, I will camp overnight. I promise.

It's Official! I'm a Blender for Life!

The first night after Darla left for her home far away, I was surprised by SouthernBlend and all the Blenders when they presented me with my very own Blender tee shirt! They made a surprise announcement from the stage that nearly knocked my socks off (... well, I was probably in flip flops, but you get it...)
